About Captain Heath

Heath Miller the owner and operator of Muncy Creek Outfitters has been fishing the waters of Pennsylvania since he could walk. When Heath first picked up a fishing rod he was hooked and now his passion revolves around getting his guests hooked on fishing the waters of Pennsylvania.

Specialties

Among other things Heath is a master of the art of fly fishing, fly tying and also teaching new anglers how to fly fish. He is known for his creative hand-tied fly patterns that give his guests an edge by mimicking the aquatic life found in these streams in a unique way. When it comes to fly fishing in Pennsylvania there is not much Heath doesn't know. Luckily for his guests, he is always happy to share that knowledge in order to put them on fish!

Most Suitable Guests:

All anglers are welcome, regardless of their skill level. Families with children are especially encouraged to attend. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, Captain Heath will be able to teach you new techniques for catching the quickest fish around.

Fish Species You Can Expect:

While he is certainly an expert Smallmouth Bass guide, Heath primarily specializes in trout fishing. His favorite Pennsylvania trout species to target is all of them. From fishing small creeks for Brook Trout to fishing larger runs for Rainbow trout and Brown Trout Heath loves every bit of it. In the summer the guests of Muncy Creek Outfitters will focus their efforts on Dry Fly Fishing on Rivers like Penns Creek, Pine Creek, and Loyalsock Creek. When things cool down into autumn nymphing and spin fishing become the primary methods of targeting these beautiful fish.

The Boat:

Heath uses two boats: a 14' Flycraft guide pro raft and an 18’ Crestliner fx189. Heath uses the Flycraft raft primarily for float fishing trips on Loyalsock Creek and Pine Creek. The biggest advantage of taking a float fishing trip on one of these rivers is that it provides the guest with the ability to fish waters they would not otherwise get to fish. Heath uses his other boat primarily for bass fishing the Susquehanna River with his guests. Whatever type of Pennsylvania fishing adventure his guests seek; Heath has the knowledge and the equipment to make it one for the record books!
